Through a lecture presentation using Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® and original artwork, the author will demonstrate how to conduct an art class and how to motivate individual with Alzheimer’s dementia to paint using techniques developed in the Memories in the Making® Art Training Program method.

Art facilitators will learn how to be to be sensitive to physical impairments; to listen to and validate the participants; to create a social setting that encourages a safe place to be. It is used most often in a group settings, but can be used one on one.

For the trained art facilitator, the method is a tool to assist in processing feelings and aid in active listening.
